You can’t be in the barn every hour. HorseWise can.
HorseWise puts a small camera on every stall and watches each horse around the clock, including the hours after evening feed when nobody is there. It learns what normal looks like for every horse in your barn, and it tells you when one of them doesn’t seem like themselves.
The kicker: the hardware is included, we pay you for the install, and when your boarders sign up, a share of what they pay comes back to your barn.

The gap every barn has
You and your staff see each horse a few times a day: at feeding, at turnout, on a walk-through. In between, and especially overnight, nobody is watching.
That’s when the trouble usually starts. A horse begins to colic at 1 a.m. and is found at 6. A horse gets cast against the wall and struggles for hours. A horse stops drinking and nobody notices until the bucket is still full the next evening. None of this is anyone’s fault. A barn can’t afford a person standing at every stall door all night.
HorseWise is that person. It doesn’t get tired, it doesn’t skip a stall, and it knows each horse’s habits well enough to notice when something changes.
How it works
1. A camera on every stall.
Each stall gets one small camera, mounted high in a corner so it can see the whole stall. The cameras see in the dark using infrared, so nights look the same to HorseWise as days.
2. A compute box in your barn.
The cameras connect to a small box that sits in your barn, usually in the tack room or office. The box runs our AI. Video is analyzed right there in your barn, not sent off to the cloud to be processed.
3. It learns each horse.
During the first week, HorseWise builds a picture of each horse’s normal: how much they eat and drink, how often and how long they lie down, how much they move, how they breathe at rest, how often they pass manure. Every horse is different, so HorseWise compares each horse to their own habits, and to the rest of your barn at the same time.
4. It tells you when something changes.
When a horse shows signs of an emergency, you get an alert right away. When a horse is drifting off their normal in a way that isn’t an emergency yet, it shows up on your dashboard so you can take a look on your next round.
What your barn gets
Emergency alerts for signs of colic or casting
These are the two situations where minutes matter, so HorseWise doesn’t wait to see a pattern. When it sees signs of colic (pawing, repeatedly looking at or nipping at the flank, getting up and down, rolling) or a horse that may be cast and unable to get up, it sends an alert as soon as it sees it.
Each alert includes a short video clip of what HorseWise saw, so whoever gets it can tell in seconds whether it needs a run to the barn.
Alerts go to the barn manager and whoever is on call. Anyone who picks it up taps “I’m on it,” so the rest of your team knows it’s handled and two people don’t both drive in. If nobody responds, HorseWise keeps going: a push notification first, then a text, then a phone call, then the next person on your list, until someone answers.
You decide who gets each alert. Alerts can go to your staff only, or to the horse’s owner as well. On stalls your barn pays for, you decide whether the owner is contacted at all.

The barn dashboard
When you open HorseWise, you see every horse in the barn on one screen, sorted by who needs attention first. A horse with an active alert is at the top. A horse who’s eating less than usual or hasn’t lain down is next. Horses having a normal day are at the bottom.
Each horse has two simple scores:
- Health: how the horse's eating, drinking, lying down, manure, breathing and movement compare to their own normal today.
- Calm: how settled they are, based on signs of stress like pacing, weaving or restlessness.
Each score shows next to that horse’s usual number, so you can see at a glance who is off and by how much. The dashboard also shows today’s chores and anything your staff have flagged.

A daily health picture for every horse
For each horse, HorseWise tracks:
- Eating: time spent at hay and grain.
- Drinking: visits to the water bucket or waterer.
- Lying down: how many times and for how long, including whether they’re getting enough deep rest.
- Manure: how often, so a drop-off stands out early.
- Breathing at rest: breaths per minute, measured from the video while the horse is standing quietly.
- Activity: how much they move around the stall.
All of it is compared to the horse's own last few weeks, and baselined against the rest of your barn. If hot weather has every horse drinking more, that isn’t an alert. If one horse is drinking less while the rest of the barn drinks more, it is. A horse that’s drinking half their usual amount shows up as “off their normal” long before it becomes an emergency. That’s where HorseWise saves the most trouble: the small changes that are easy to miss on a busy day.

Every camera recorded, with the key moments clipped
HorseWise records every camera, all the time. When something happens in the barn, you can go back to that stall, scrub through the footage and see exactly how it happened.
On top of the full recording, HorseWise saves short clips of key moments: the start of an alert, a roll, a long lie-down, an unusual night. For those you don’t have to scrub through hours of footage. If an owner asks what happened overnight, or a vet asks when the pawing started, the answer is already saved with a time stamp.

Notes and shift handoffs
Your staff, the owner and the rider can all leave notes on a horse: “seemed off at evening feed,” “farrier tomorrow,” “watch his left front.” Notes can be typed or spoken.
You can tag a horse with something to watch, like “watch his water intake,” so it shows up for everyone who opens the horse's page. A concern raised by the morning shift doesn’t get lost by the evening shift.

Healthy horses and happy owners
You decide how involved your boarders are. There are two ways to run HorseWise, and you can mix them stall by stall.
Your barn runs it. You pay $20 a stall and HorseWise works for you and your staff. Every horse is watched, alerts come to your team, and you choose what to share with each owner, the same way you’d share any other update about their horse today.
Owners take over their own stall. Any boarder can sign up for their own horse. When they do, they pay for that stall instead of you, and part of what they pay comes back to your barn. They get live video of their horse, a daily summary of their horse's day and alerts on their own phone. Owners see only their own horse; your staff still see the whole barn and still get every alert.
Either way, it’s a record of the care your barn gives. Owners see the whole picture of their horse’s day: that the horse ate the hay, drank, and lay down for a nap, not just a single moment caught on a camera. It also gives you something other barns in your area don’t offer: proof that every horse in your care is watched all night.
Vet and farrier reports
Before a vet visit, HorseWise can put together a report for that horse: what’s changed, how they compare to their normal, any clips worth looking at, and anything the vet asked you to watch last time. Farriers get a report too, covering how the horse has been standing and moving since the last trim or shoeing.

Horses that need closer watching
Stall rest, recovery after surgery or colic, a new arrival settling in, a mare close to foaling, an older horse who’s started losing weight. These are the horses you worry about overnight. HorseWise watches them every hour, and because it compares each horse to their own normal, you can see at a glance whether they’re eating, drinking and lying down like themselves. Alerts are configurable for each horse: choose who on your team gets them and whether the owner hears too. Add a tag so everyone on your team knows to keep an eye on them.

Free accounts for your whole team
Barn managers and staff get HorseWise at no charge, with full access to the dashboard and every alert. Add as many staff as you need, and set who’s on call when.

What HorseWise is, and isn’t
HorseWise is a second set of eyes. It is not a vet, it doesn’t diagnose anything, and it doesn’t replace your care, your checks or your judgment. An alert means “someone should look at this horse,” not “this horse has colic.” Most days, HorseWise simply tells you every horse had a normal day.
Setting it up
What we send you
A kit sized to your barn: one camera per stall, mounting hardware, cables, and the compute box. Everything is labeled by stall.
What you need
- Power or a network cable at each stall. The cameras can be powered through the network cable, so you don’t need both.
- An internet connection in the barn. HorseWise analyzes video in the barn, but it needs the internet to send alerts to your phone.
- A spot for the compute box, like the tack room or office.
Installing it
You can install it yourself or have someone you trust do it. There’s no special training. In our own barn, two stalls took about 45 minutes. When the cameras are up, we check every camera view remotely to make sure each stall is fully in frame, and we tell you if anything needs adjusting.
We pay you $500 once your cameras pass that check. Keep it for your time, or use it to pay whoever installs it.
Already have cameras?
If your barn already has IP security cameras on each stall, and they can share their video over a standard connection (most modern cameras can, through what’s called RTSP or ONVIF), we can often use them and send you just the compute box. Tell us what you have and we’ll check.
Keeping it running
Once it’s installed, there isn’t much to do, but there are a few things only someone in the barn can do:
- Wipe the camera lenses when they get dusty or cobwebbed.
- Adjust a camera if it gets bumped or knocked out of position.
- Keep the barn’s internet working.
That’s why we pay you for it. If a camera or the box fails, we replace it.
What it costs, and how it gets cheaper
The starting price
$20 a stall a month. That includes the cameras, the compute box, the software, replacements if anything fails, and accounts for all your staff. There’s nothing to buy up front. The agreement runs for 2 years. As the end approaches, we reach out to you before it renews automatically.
When your boarders sign up, they take over their stall
Each of your boarders can sign up for HorseWise for their own horse. The moment they do, they take over payment for that stall.
There are three plans, chosen stall by stall, by the boarder or by your barn:
- Good, $20 a month: live video, daily summaries and all alerts for their horse.
- Better, $80 a month: everything in Good, plus deeper health tracking over time and a travel camera for trailers and shows.
- Best, $180 a month: everything in Better, plus a paddock camera and a second travel camera.
Your barn can put any stall on Better or Best. Some barns set every stall up on Best and include it in board, so owners get everything without paying anything extra.
You get paid for keeping things running
For every boarder who signs up, 20% of what they pay comes back to your barn as an upkeep credit. It’s our way of paying you for keeping the cameras clean and aimed and the internet up.
Here’s what that looks like in a 20-stall barn
Say every one of your 20 boarders signs up. Most pick Good, a few want more:
| 14 horses on Good | at $20 | = $280 a month |
|---|---|---|
| 4 horses on Better | at $80 | = $320 a month |
| 2 horses on Best | at $180 | = $360 a month |
Your boarders pay HorseWise $960 a month between them. You pay nothing, because every stall is covered by its owner.
And 20% of that comes back to your barn: $192 a month, or about $2,300 a year, for keeping the cameras clean and aimed and the internet up.
Every horse in your barn watched all night, and HorseWise pays you. Your actual credit depends on which plans your boarders choose.
If a boarder moves out
Their stall goes back to the $20 barn rate until the next horse moves in. If the new owner already has a HorseWise plan, they take over payment for that stall automatically.

Questions barn managers ask
Who sees the video?
Your staff see every stall. Each owner sees only their own horse.
What happens if the internet goes down?
The box keeps watching and tracking every horse’s behavior, because all of that happens in the barn. What needs the internet is getting alerts to your phone or watching the video from outside the barn, so a reliable connection matters for those.
Does it work in the dark?
Yes. The cameras use infrared, so HorseWise watches just as well at night.
Will my staff need training?
The app is built for people who are busy with horses: open it, see who needs attention, tap “I’m on it.” Most people learn it in a few minutes.
What if a horse moves stalls?
Tell HorseWise who’s in which stall. It learns to recognize each horse and keeps their history with them.
What if a camera breaks?
We replace it. Hardware is included in the subscription.
Can we cancel?
The agreement is for 2 years. That’s what lets us include the hardware with nothing to buy up front. As the end approaches, we reach out to you before it renews automatically.
Is this a replacement for night checks?
No. HorseWise is a second set of eyes between checks, not a replacement for care.
